About the Peers and Consumers Forum

The NUAA Peers and Consumers Forum aims to celebrate the contribution of consumer and peer workers – either paid or voluntary – in New South Wales. Consumers and peers participate in a range of settings – AOD treatment services, needle and syringe programs, consumer groups – all are welcome to attend. The successful inaugural Forum was held at the NSW Teachers Federation in Sydney on September 5-6, 2018. Read the 2018 prospectus to find out more. Stay tuned for details of the September 4-5 2019 Forum.

The Forum's main goal is to support consumers and peers, and provide a networking opportunity. We also want to raise the voice of people who use drugs and AOD service users to support advocacy, reduce stigma and discrimination and improve health service delivery.

Anyone who hopes to raise the voice of people who use drugs and increase involvement of consumers and peers in health service delivery should think about attending, including:

• Peer and consumer workers in AOD or harm reduction services;

• Community volunteers in AOD or harm reduction services;

• Frontline staff and managers in the AOD sector;

• Researchers with an interest in community responses to AOD; or

• Policy makers and funders.
